SteelPath Builders LLC was founded in January 2026 by Craig Harmon and Desiree Vega — two construction veterans who spent a combined 30 years at some of Florida's most respected firms, including Skanska Florida and Suffolk Construction.
The idea had been brewing for years. But it was Hurricane Helene that crystallized it. As the storm cleared and the damage emerged across Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Manatee counties, Craig and Desiree saw the same story playing out everywhere: property owners couldn't find reliable contractors, timelines were being missed, and too many insurance claims were going unsupported. They decided to do something about it.
SteelPath launched with 24 field personnel and 12 office staff, a full commercial and residential license, and one rule: every client gets Craig or Desiree's direct line on their contract. Not a call center. Not a coordinator. Them.
Today we're active on three projects across four counties, with a growing reputation for on-budget delivery and straight talk. Florida deserves contractors who show up. We do.
"Florida doesn't need more contractors. It needs better ones."
"We built this company to outlast the next storm — literally and figuratively."
One point of contact, always reachable. Craig's personal cell number is on every contract we sign. When something comes up on a Friday at 5pm, you're not calling a general line — you're calling the person who built your project.
We don't estimate. We calculate. Every bid is built from first principles — material takeoffs, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing. We don't pad numbers and we don't cut corners. What you sign is what you pay.
All subcontractors are local businesses. All materials are sourced within 200 miles of the project site wherever possible. We don't ship in crews from out of state. We build Florida with Florida people.
